Job Summary

We are actively seeking observant, reliable, and highly professional individuals to join our Asset Protection team. As a Retail Security Officer, you will conduct uniformed floor surveillance, monitor the store entrances, and act as a strong visual deterrent to external theft. You will serve as a safety ambassador, delivering the signature reliability that sets Giant Eagle apart in the grocery industry. This role requires a calm demeanor, strong de-escalation skills, and excellent situational awareness.

Comprehensive Responsibilities

• Visible Deterrence: Conduct continuous patrols of the sales floor and entrance areas in full uniform to deter shoplifting and ensure a safe shopping environment.
• CCTV Operations: Monitor live camera feeds from the security office occasionally, tracking suspicious behavior and alerting management to potential risks.
• De-escalation & Incident Support: Respond to disturbances on the sales floor, utilizing professional de-escalation techniques and assisting management in documenting security incidents.
• Customer Service: Act as an approachable authority figure, greeting customers as they enter, providing directions, and ensuring they feel safe while shopping.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age upon application.
• High School diploma or GED required; security guard certification or criminal justice coursework is highly preferred.
• Prior experience in retail loss prevention, armed/unarmed security, or a similar field is preferred but not required.
• Strong situational awareness, a commanding yet friendly demeanor, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress scenarios.
